Why was the data set created?
Provides parcel boundary and ownership information for all tax map parcels in the County. This data provides a general overview of property ownership in the County and is only meant as a reference dataset for planning purposes.
How was the data set created?
- From what previous works were the data drawn?
- How were the data generated, processed, and modified?
- Date: April 2006 (process 1 of 4)
- After receiving permission from the County, WorldView converted the County's existing tax maps into a digital GIS database format. This was achieved by georeferencing the tax maps to the 2002 Aerial Photographs available for the County. The georeferenced tax maps boundaries were then digitized for the County using the tax map information and features depicted on the aerial photographs. Right of Way boundaries were created by buffering the road centerlines in the County. Parcel Identification numbers were assigned by manually referencing the County tax map.
- (process 2 of 4)
- GIS Data was cleaned, imported into a geodatabase format, and referenced to a standardized attribute table.
- Date: November 2006 (process 3 of 4)
- Hard copy CAMA (Computer Aided Mass Apraisal) data was requested from the County Assessor. This information was entered into a text file format and was linked with the GIS data.
- Date: Ongoing (process 4 of 4)
- Data is updated on a quarterly basis.
- What similar or related data should the user be aware of?
How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?
- How well have the observations been checked?
Accuracy of attribute information related to the assessment data available in each County is variable, depending on the source for any given parcel. WorldView Solutions standardized the final attribute organization and content to best meet the needs of a contiguous database.
- How accurate are the geographic locations?
Parcel boundairy accuracy is variable, depending on the source data available for each parcel. Boundaries have been edgematched and, because parcel boundaries are derived from County Tax Maps, they should only be used for general planning purposes.
- How accurate are the heights or depths?
- Where are the gaps in the data? What is missing?
- How consistent are the relationships among the observations, including topology?
How can someone get a copy of the data set?
Are there legal restrictions on access or use of the data?
- Access_Constraints:
- Data is provided as-is and is intended for use by Accomack County and its contractors, partners or other parties given access to the data.
- Use_Constraints: Data is to be used for planning purposes only.
- Who distributes the data set? (Distributor 1 of 1)
